Gear and Other Stuff

On this page I will review some of the grear and tackle I use on the tournament trail or in my charter business. These are not necessarily sponsors if they are I will let you know. It is just darn good "stuff"! I hope it will help you find some great "stuff" to try.

A great new reel made by US Reel!

About a month ago I bought a new reel I read about it was the SuperCaster 1000 Pro made by US Reel. Without a doubt it was the best reel purchase I have ever made. It is smooth as silk and can cast a mile. US Reel came up with a revolutionary design ... they have eliminated the levelwind eye on the front of the reel. The eye is often what causes backlashes to develop. Friction between the line and the eye slows the line faster than the spinning spool slows thus the line starts to backlash. Remove the eye you remove the friction and no more back lashes! Friction also robs distance on your cast, the benefit of no levelwind eye is not only no backlashes the distance is also increased. The SuperCaster 1000 Pro has become my favorite reel in my arsenal on the tournament trail. I also will be also replacing all my casting reels for my charter equipment. When I have paying customers on my boat they need to catch fish and be using the best equipment. I want them to come back and to tell their friends what a great time they had. The only guarrantee I have is that they are using the best equipment. You can buy a US Reel, SuperCaster 1000 Pro at Cabelas use the link US Reel to take you to the Cabelas to get one for yourself.

Kamp-Rite, Tent Cots!

Travel expenses on the touranment trail can be a killer. I tried to stay in cheap motels .. share rooms... camping in my truck. Cheap motels are not cheap... and sharing a room is okay if your buddy doesn't snore or stays up late. Truck camping is cheap but man does it hurt trying to sleep in a truck... not comfortable at all.

I have the answer and it is the Tent-Cot. A tent-cot is just as the name implies a cot with a tent incorporated into the cot...tent-cot. I bought mine several years ago, I use it to camp in on the tournament trail. It is comfortable, keeps you off the ground and dry and it is well ventilated. I suggest getting the rainfly just in case it rains.

Last fall I had to stay at my dughter's house; she had no spare bed so it was the floor, couch or the tent-cot. I camped in her house on my tent-cot for over two months, you couldn't do that if it wasn't sturdy and comfortable and I am a large guy at 230 pounds. Looking for camping gear check out Kamp-Rite for a Tent-Cot
